Description

Jeongdo might have had a little too much liquor the night before. His stomach growled and he stifled a groan when he felt it churning. “Gah! I am going to die at this rate.”

Being a salesman meant constantly drinking with potential clients. Those damn rich people liked drinking as if it gave them long life or riches. Jeongdo groaned to himself and opened the door. “Good morning everyo—”

“Jin Jeongdo! You smart punk!”

Jeongdo sighed, thinking he wouldn’t be getting a quiet start today. The man screaming Jeongdo’s name was the CEO of the guild Jeongdo worked for. His face put him in his later thirties. His muscles bulged against the shirt he wore and his hair was cut nice and low. He was grinning as he walked to Jeongdo.

“You called me, chief?” Jeongdo sighed.

“You rotten punk!” The man said, laughing. “Your CEO is talking to you and you’re sighing?” he asked, chuckling as he got closer to Jeongdo. The CEO swung his thick arms around Jeongdo’s neck and held him in a headlock. “What did you do, Jeongdo? It was brilliant! I got a call from Seeker Jung this morning. They’ll be trading us the dungeon they found recently and it’s all thanks to you!”

After the Cataclysm, a lot of things had changed in the world, and the appearance of dungeons was the beginning of it all. Dungeons were rare now, though, and finding ones to raid was vital. That was why Jeongdo’s job was important. He did the networking for the guild with Seekers, who tracked down the dungeons.

“Ouch! Okay, I get it! Now, please let go. I have a hangover and I’m still feeling a bit—” he stopped to hold down whatever was bubbling up his throat, but it was obvious he had almost thrown up.

“That was why I told you to come in two hours late. You overreact too mu…” Jeongdo glared at him as he was released from the headlock, but the CEO only chuckled back. “Anyway, it’s good that the deal has been made. When is the raid?”

“Next week.”

“That’s faster than I thought.”

“The competition is fierce and people were getting antsy. Like rain during a drought, getting this dungeon has made everyone happy.”

The CEO turned to the others in the office. “Let’s give a huge round of applause to Manager Jin for all his hard work.”

The office rang with applause. Jeongdo knew he worked for a great guild. The guild had workers from a wide range of ages, most of them friendly and good humored. And there was a reliable and trustworthy CEO leading them.

Jeongdo wondered if there was any other guild like this. He was lost in the good feeling when someone spoke. “Then again, he is just a measly salesman.”

Not everyone in the guild was the same.

The warmth evaporated and most of the others were glaring at the man who spoke. “Why are you all looking at me like that? Am I wrong? In the end, the salesmen don’t get their hands dirty, the combat team does. Fuck!”

“Hey, Jo Hakrae! Watch your mouth,” The CEO yelled, but Jo Hakrae was not fazed.

“Chief, let’s be honest! The sales guys are important, but all they do is kiss ass while drinking their own asses off! Why should we give them all the credit?”

“You think the guild would stand on raids alone? Every team has a role to play, and together we all carry the guild—”

“Right. Right. My bad! Mr. Jin, I am sorry for my attitude. I should learn to shut my mouth,” Jo Hakrae said and got up from the sofa he was lying on.

“Hey! Jo Hakrae! Where are you going? We need to do a briefing for the expedition soon.”

“Like you said, everyone has their job. The admin team can do the prep while I go to the training room and do what I’m good at. Fighting.”

Bang!

The door slammed and the office was silent. The CEO turned to Jeongdo with a sorry look on his face. “That bastard… If he wasn’t so good at his job, I would have kicked the arrogant asshole out already. I am sorry, Jeongdo.”

“You don’t have to apologize, chief. I’m used to Captain Jo, it doesn’t even affect me anymore.”
